Blair Monroe: 7 Months Old

20140904_185910_17 months just sounds so old! I no longer have a “little” baby. (She is in fact still little but you know what I mean) She is closer to being one than she is when I had her. Does that sentence even make sense? No doctor appointment this month so no stats!

Nicknames: These haven’t changed. Still mostly call her Blair, munch, baby girl, monkey, sweetheart ect

Clothing: I just switched her clothes over to her 6-9 month wardrobe mainly because I didn’t want to have to go into the storage room in a few weeks and do it then. I figured I might as well get it done while I was unpacking the house any ways! I realized a few of the outfits were 3-6 months which is sad. I get confused on how carters does their sizing! Luckily she still fits in them so I just kept them with the 6-9 months. I wont lie, she could probably get a full other month out of her 3-6 month clothing but fall is coming so I want her to get use out of her warmer weather 6-9 month clothes before transitioning into the warmer stuff!

Diapers: Our love affair continues with the cloth diapers! We wash them Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays and haven’t had any issues with leaking or blowouts. She goes through 5-6 diapers a day.

Eating: She is nursing every 2-4 hours during the day for about 5-10 minutes on one side. I have to go into her room with the blinds drawn, light off and the white noise on in order for her to eat enough and not get distracted. We are still doing baby led weaning but we haven’t been consistent with it because of the move. She still loves chicken, asparagus, carrots, avocado, and now likes zucchini and tolerates bananas.

Sleeping: One day I will look back on this and it will just be a blur. Seriously a blur. Tuesday night she was awake from 10:00 pm-4:00 am crying. Just completely inconsolable. It was so weird and horrible. She has been everywhere this month. One night she slept 10 hours (I repeat ONE night) and some she doesn’t make it more than 2! I am pretty good about not letting it frustrate me because honestly I was never a great sleeper and she generally goes right back to sleep. She seems to be consistently waking only twice a night now, with the occasional bad night. I don’t think the move helped her routine. She was a little off the moment the boxes came out and she is just now starting to settle down.

Social: The last two weeks she has been a lot less social. She screams if I leave the room and will cry and look for me if someone else holds her. It’s so strange since she has never had these issues before! I have read plenty of things that say it’s normal. It’s just part of growing up and learning people can walk away from you. She will still smile and talk to other people as long as she knows I am there and am not trying to leave her.

Likes: the zippy, Sophie the giraffe (actually she LOVES Sophie), when you sing the abc’s, the tv show Super Why, nursing, water: watching it, bathing, playing, swimming you name it she loves it, the ergo, her stroller, being outside, rolling around on the floor and army crawling, her new big girl car seat, being thrown in the air, her jumper, mommy

Dislikes: bottles, getting overly tired, being hungry, being ignored, when mommy walks out of the room, being held by people she doesn’t know

New this Month: This month has been full of change. She now army crawls every where. It is the weirdest army crawl. She doesn’t use her left arm, she just tucks it under her and uses her right arm and legs to get around. There is nothing wrong with her left arm, she uses it equally when playing and eating she just doesn’t know how to use both arms while crawling! She can sit up unassisted and tries desperately to get from her tummy to a sitting position but she hasn’t figured out that quite yet. She also gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. You can see she is just trying to figure out how to truly crawl. It’s kind of adorable. We moved into a bigger apartment so she has a much bigger area to learn all these new skills. She has officially said her first word “Dada”. I tried to no avail to get her to say mama. Little stinker! She also got her first hair cut! We only trimmed up these random long pieces she had so that it was all a little more uniform and hopefully grows in somewhat similarly.

Fun Things We Did:

  • Swimming with Lucy
  • Walked the beautiful trail in Manchester
  • Went to the art Museum
  • moved into a new apartment

Looking Forward to:

  • we are going to go Blueberry picking
  • a trip into Boston!
  • Nana and Papa coming in NEXT MONTH

Blair Monroe: 6 Months Old

6m

This post is so late. She is closer to 7 months than she is six but her doctor’s appointment was rescheduled to today so I didn’t have her stats. Oh well. Better late than never!

Height: 26.25 inches (58th percentile)

Weight: 14 pounds 8 ounces (14th percentile)

Head Circumference:  16.25 inches (12th percentile)

Dr. Appointment: We saw a different doctor this time and I loved her. She was a thousand times better so we are switching! She seemed to care a lot more and seemed much more knowledgeable. She didn’t give me any grief for Blair’s size so that was nice as well. She said she is always consistent so she is just a small, healthy baby. She said since she is on the taller side her height to weight ration percentile is 6% which is funny. Tall skinny girl. Blair has a lip tie but the doctor said it’s not anything to worry about right now and it looks ok. She could tell she is a very efficient nurser because of her nursing blister on her lip. She got the last round of her shots. She didn’t scream this time, just instantly hyperventilated. I sang her favorite song and she calmed down in less than 5 minutes and is now happily playing. Best round of shots yet! She doesn’t have another appointment until 9 months and wont need any immunizations! (Well she will need a flu shot but whatever)

Nicknames: Garren calls her monkey and monkey butt (what?), we both call her munch, munchkin, munch baby, and I call her babies, love, and Blair. I have been trying to get Garren to use her name more. I am afraid she wont know it!

Clothing: She is still rocking her 3-6 month summer wardrobe! They actually fit perfectly right now so she looks extra cute. She may move into her 6-9 month clothes in the next few weeks because the onesies are starting to get a little tight in lenghth.

Diapers: Cloth diapers through and through. Garren and I were just talking about much we love doing cloth diapers. We are lifers for sure! We wash diapers ever Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and skip the weekend. It’s really the perfect schedule. The sun is magical just so you all know. All of her diapers still look brand new because the sun bleaches out any stains that she might get.

Eating: She nurses ever 3 hours during the day. She could go longer stretches but I try and feed her more frequently throughout the day so she doesn’t wake as much at night. We have started baby lead weaning. She really hated purees (and still does). She gags every time we try and feed her. With baby lead weaning you skip the purees and just give them some food right off your plate. It’s actually awesome! She learns to feed herself and she gets to take it at her speed. There is no risk of chocking because babies have the tongue thrust reflex, and they don’t have the capabilities to move food to the back of their throat before they learn to chew. Plus we are always right there with her. So far she is not a fan of bananas or broccoli, but she loves chicken, asparagus, avocado, and bread!

6m4 6m3

Sleeping: She is doing a little better with sleeping at night. She sleeps in 3-4 hour stretches and usually only wakes up twice at night. We have had a few bad nights of her waking every hour and wanting to be held but she also had her first cold and cut two teeth this month so I can’t really blame her! Her naps have been amazing! She takes three naps a day. The first one is usually 45-50 minutes and then the other two are 1-2 hours long. I feel like I suddenly have so much time on my hands to actually get some things done! (You know… like showering)

Social: My little social butterfly continues to love being around people! She is always pretty quite and inquisitive when she first meets people. She basically stares them down and tries to figure out what they are all about and then she quickly warms up and will smile for any one. She is a talker and isn’t afraid to share her opinion. Loudly. She now seems to know exactly who Lucy is and a huge smile always spreads over her face when she sees her! It’s the cutest thing! I love watching them start to interact with each other.

6m6 6m5

Likes: the zippy, Sophie the giraffe (actually she LOVES Sophie), when you sing the abc’s, the tv show Super Why, nursing, water: watching it, bathing, playing, swimming you name it she loves it, the ergo, her stroller, being outside, rolling around on the floor and trying to crawl, her new big girl car seat, being thrown in the air, her jumper

Dislikes: bottles, getting overly tired, being hungry, being ignored

New this Month: Blair got sick for the first time this month from the plane ride back from Utah. It was so sad! She had tons of mucus so we were constantly sucking out her nose, and sitting in the bathroom with a hot shower running to help relieve the congestion. She was still super happy but her energy level was much lower. She now has TWO teeth on the bottom and the top two look like they will me making an appearance before too long. We got her a convertible car seat and it has made a world of a difference! She actually likes being in the car so that’s been fun. She has also been sporting ponytails and pigtails as of late.

Blair Monroe- 5 months old

5month

I don’t know any of her stats this month so I will just have to record them for the six month post! Also we were in Utah so I didn’t have the normal things I take her picture with and for some reason the quality isn’t great.

Dr. Appointment: No doctor this month! Those are my favorite kind of months

Nicknames: Garren calls her B Money a lot which I have banned because there was this “rapper” in provo that went by that name and well just no. I call her “Munch” the majority of the time but she still clings to the nicknames: Squish, squishy, B, and baby girl.

Clothing: Remember how we cloth diaper? Well we just washed them all and have put her in disposable diapers and her 3-6 month clothing is HUGE on her. I currently have her in a 0-3 month outfit that fits great, although a little short in the pants. Seriously how small is my little girl? I keep trying to fatten her up, but she is crazy so she works it off pretty easily. I am still only bringing 3-6 month clothing to Utah tomorrow because that’s her summer wardrobe. Edit: Now that we are in Utah the clothes are working fine. Yes they are a little bit big but thats ok :)

Diapers: Since we are using disposable for the trip, I have become even more of a fan of cloth. I just have this weird distrust of disposable now. They seem so flimsy! She NEVER has blowouts with cloth so we will see how disposable go! We can now wash every third day so that’s awesome. I am still shocked out little “work” cloth is. Edit: We have already had more blowouts in the last week than we have the entire first 4 months of her life with cloth diapers. I am officially a cloth diaper mama. Now and forever.

Eating: Oh man. Blair is ALL over the place with this one. Sometimes she will go 4 hours between feeds and other times it’s been 1.5 hours and she thinks she is starving. She rarely eats longer than 5 minutes before she is looking around and wanting to play again. I wish she was a bit bigger because I get nervous about her size and efficiency while eating. She has sucked on a watermelon and I made her breast milk Popsicles that she was a huge fan of. I am super nervous and excited to try food next month.

Sleeping: Still going through the sleep regression. She wakes up about every 2 hours but we have had some really good nights of her going 3-4 hours at a time and even had a 7.5 hour stretch the night I was sick. I swear she just knew her mama needed some extra sleep and being the sweet baby she is she obliged. Her naps have gotten much better. She has started taking 1-1.5 hour naps ever 2 or so hours! She still takes one cat nap of 30 minutes a day but she is slowly becoming a better napper. The saving grace is how easy she is to actually get to sleep. Oh we bought a zippy to help transition from the swaddle and it’s a life saver. Can’t say enough positive things about this thing!

Social: This month was her social debut. She met all of her grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles and a ton of our friends. I was so nervous she would get over whelmed but looking back I have no idea why I was scared. The girl loves chaos! Her cousins loved her and were constantly playing with her. Garren’s brother Kyle made her laugh harder than she has ever laughed before. It was so fun to see her interact with people. She is so perceptive. You can just watch her taking it all in. She will just stare at a new person, almost like she is taking them in and learning who they are. I love seeing the world through her eyes. It’s by far the best part of being a mother.

Likes: the zippy, Sophie the giraffe (actually she LOVES Sophie), her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, when you sing the abc’s, nursing, water: watching it, bathing, playing, swimming you name it she loves it, nursing, the ergo, her stroller, being outside

Dislikes: When daddy is gone, not being able to play and roll around, binkies, bottles, the car seat and being overly tired.

New this Month: I don’t even know where to start. She rolls from stomach to back and back to stomach like she has been doing it her whole life, she gets her knees up under her and desperately tries to crawl, she lifts her chest up off the floor for a few seconds with her arms, she can sit unassisted for a few seconds or hold her self up with her arms for a few seconds, she has been talking even more and is using a lot more consonant sounds, she full out laughs now and has become tickleish, she has always liked her Sophie the giraffe but now she LOVES it. As in if she is upset and we give it to her she is happy and usually falls asleep. It’s amazing. She went swimming at a lake and a pool for the first time this month and loved it. She was blessed for our church! (a post coming about that tomorrow) OH and she swung on a swing for the first time

Fun Things We Did:

  • Swimming for the first time with Lucy
  • Trip to Utah to meet family
  • Swimming in a lake
  • First Airplane trip
  • Was blessed and given a name

I am going to skip the Mommy and Daddy sections because I have more posts coming up that will have those updates.

Looking Forward to:

  • Summer fun! Lots of swimming, swinging, play dates and walks
  • we are going to go Blueberry picking next month
  • Trying food for the first time
  • a trip to the beach
  • a trip into Boston!

Blair Monroe- 4 Months Old

4m

Height: 24.8 inches 60th percentile

Weight: 12 lbs 4 oz 12th percentile

Head Circumference: 15.8 inches 27th percentile

Dr. Appointment: shots once again! We hate shots. she bled a lot this time when they gave her the shots. The doctor thinks that since Blair is on the small side that we should start solids but I have done a lot of research on this subject and we are going to wait until six months. She is very content after eating, has plenty of wet and poopy diapers, and is meeting all her milestones like a champ. She is not interested in food at all at the moment. I am leaning more towards a baby lead weaning method of feeding her, and plan to do food as a “just for fun” kind of thing before one. She gets all the nutrients she needs from breastmilk.

Nicknames: B, Squish, Squish Monster, Squishy, Munch, Munch Face, Baby Girl,

Clothing: I pulled out her 3-6 month clothing. It’s my favorite of her little wardrobes. Most of the clothes are huge on her but that’s ok. That just means she will get to wear them longer! Her huge cloth diapers help fill out the bigger clothes.

Diapers: I will say this every month but I LOVE CLOTH DIAPERS! They are so much easier than I ever thought they would be. She goes through 7-8 diapers a day and we wash every other day now. I will never get over how adorable she is in these diapers!

IMG_2600

Eating: Blair is still eating on one side during a feed but occasionally she will be hungry enough to eat from both sides. She averages 6-8 minutes when she eats. She goes any were from 1.5 hours to 3 hours between eating. She is still on a bottle strike. It’s like she doesn’t know what to do with it. She just chews on it and then screams because she wants the real deal. I know a lot of people start solids at 4 months but because she is exclusively breast fed we are waiting until 6 months to introduce food. We are skipping cereals all together. From all the research I have done it doesn’t seem prudent to give a baby grains. I think we will start with avocado! I am super excited to see how she reacts to food.

Sleeping: This has been a horrible month for sleep. She has been all over the place. There were some nights that the longest she slept was 1.5 hours. There was a 5 day stretch where she did sleep really well. We unswaddled her and she slept great! Then we figured out that she is such a little mover that she would hit the sides of the bassinet and wake her self up. She was getting a little to big for it. So we decided to move her to her room and her crib. I am a crazy paranoid mother so right now I am sleeping in there on the air mattress. I wish her crib would fit in our room. The first night in her crib didn’t start off well because she kept startling. I think the bed was just too big and she didn’t feel secure so I swaddled her and she slept great. Last Tuesday I bought a sound machine that has several different sounds/lullabies and projects a moving image on the ceiling for her. I figured I would try it and bring it back if it didn’t help. To my surprise it has made her a completely different baby. I can put her down in her crib with that on for naps and she falls right asleep! It’s amazing! She also is sleeping much better at night and going down easier. We also bought a little rocking chair that is making bedtime easier as well.

Social: We have a little chatter box on our hands! She is a major talker and I love it! I am interested to see how she handles being held by a lot of people. We are going home to have Blair blessed and around 50 people will be there all wanting to see her and hold her! I hope she doesn’t get overwhelmed. She isn’t held by other people (besides Garren and I) often. I hope she does well! She loves hanging out with Lucy. Every time she is laid next to her, without fail, she reaches out and grabs her hand.

Likes: New sound machine, the stroller, the ergo, nursing, having conversations with mom, when daddy comes home, baths, and being outside

Dislikes: Bottles, Binkies, being in her car seat,

New This Month: Blair has started “singing” with us when we sing or when music comes on. It’s the cutest thing! She lifts her legs up for you when you are changing her diaper. I think this is because she has a new fascination with her feet but it’s still cute. She has rolled over a ton of times! She has done it enough that I know she can do it but for some reason she chooses not to most of the time. She does enjoy tummy time a lot more now! When she is on her tummy she will get her knees up under her and push off. It’s crazy! I feel like she will be an early crawler, which I am not excited about.

Fun Things We Did:

  • Went to the Joseph Smith’s Birthplace Memorial. It was the longest Blair has had to be in the car. It went pretty well!
  •  We found a gorgeous trail to walk on.
  • Took Blair to the park for the first time
  • Figured out this napping business! She may not sleep long but at least she is going down easier.

Mama: My recovery isn’t going as great as I would like it too. We found out that I have uterine prolapse but luckily it doesn’t look like a bad case, and it should correct itself (with exercise) in 6-12 months. Every one told me that when you breastfeed you don’t get a period! Yeah right. I got my first one at 5 weeks postpartum and they are back to being every 28-29 days. Oh well at least they are consistent. Being a mom is better that I imagined and I love hanging out with my girl every day. I know I am biased but I am certain I have the prettiest, smartest, and best baby around ;)

Daddy: Garren is doing great in school. I love seeing him working so hard to provide for us and reach his goal of being a PT. Blair has started getting excited when he comes home. It’s adorable. We bought a sound monitor and my favorite thing is to turn it on while he is changing her diaper and listen to him sing to her. He makes up songs about her.

Things we are looking forward too:

GOING HOME! We are going to Utah in 2 weeks to have Blair blessed and to meet her family! I am so excited.

Blair Monroe- 3 Months Old

3m
So the quality of that picture because of the lighting isn’t the best… but look at that face!
Height: 23.25 inches so around the 50th percentile
Weight: We didn’t have a doctors appointment this month so we tried to weigh her ourselves, she is between 11.5 and 12 lbs (around the 35th percentile)
Head Circumference: 15.25 inches 18th percentile
Dr. Appointment: No doctor appointment this month! Yippee! Seriously dreading the 4 month shots already :(
Nicknames: B, Munchkin, Baby Girl, and mostly Squishy (from me) and Squish (from dad)
Clothing: Blair is a little on the smaller side so she still has probably another month in her 0-3 month clothing. Her 3-6 month wardrobe is my favorite though so I am excited for when she gets to wear those!! I recently bought her an amber necklace so she rocks that during the day when she is awake. It does help a bit with her drooling/bubbles. Plus it’s just really cute.
Diapers: I cannot say enough good things about cloth diapers! We never have any blowouts or leaks, she has never had diaper rash and the cleaning process is super simple. Most people already do a lot of laundry with babies any way so it’s very manageable! Plus look how stinking cute she looks in them? I die.
Diaper Baby!

Diaper Baby!

Eating: We are still going strong with this breastfeeding business! I absolutely love it, even if I am nauseous 95% of the time but that’s a story for a different post. Blair eats about every 2 hours during the day. Towards the vening she will start cluster feeding and eat every 1-1.5 hours for a few hours before bed. It is nice to have an excuse to just sit down and stare at my beautiful daughter every couple of hours. She is kind of all over the place with how long she eats. Sometimes it’s six minutes and sometimes it’s twenty. We are blessed to have a baby who almost NEVER spits up. She has probably “spit up” 7-8 times since being born, but to be honest when she does spit up it’s more like projectile vomiting so….. you win some you lose some!

Sleeping: What is sleep again? Blair was doing so well up until this last month! There have been a handful of nights where she has miraculously slept 7 or 8 hour stretches but it’s no where near the norm. Usually she will go about 3 hours and then wake up every 1.5-3 hours until morning. I am semi exhausted and afraid she will never sleep through the night. Really I just need to remember that my baby is only three months old and stop comparing her to other babies. (Like my sisters kids who slept through the night from like 6 weeks on……. waaaah) Blair is also the queen of power naps. She takes a nap every 90 minutes during the day (thanks to my friend Vivian who sent me this link http://researchmommy.wordpress.com/2009/12/08/90-minute-sleep-cycles/ Garren and I are convinced this is magic) but after 25-30 minutes her eyes snap open and she is ready to go again. She is such a busy little girl! She is fairly easy to get to sleep, and always goes right back to sleep in the middle of the night so it could definitely be much worse! I probably wont start sleep training for a month or two but if any one has any suggestions I am all ears! (Except for cry it out…)
Social: Blair is a very social little girl. She is constantly talking and babbling on and on! She recently started laughing. It’s such a funny little forceful laugh. It almost sounds fake. Like she hasn’t quite figured out how to laugh yet but she knows when she makes that sound it gets us really excited! She seems to be noticing people more and she is so in awe of the world around her. She has also started noticing Lucy (my friends baby) more when we go on our play dates every week. She has started making this new noise, I wish I knew how to explain it but she definitely likes making it!  She is maybe starting to hate tummy time a little less. She has rolled over twice from her stomach to back but hasn’t been doing it consistently. My favorite thing she does now though, is when she see’s me and gets all excited. She will be playing on her play mat and I will go over there and her face just lights up and her arms and legs go flying in all directions. There is no bigger confidence booster in this world!
20140504_190053
Likes: Bath time, nursing, her pink muslin blanket, sitting up like a big girl, reading books, when daddy beat boxes to her, talking to mommy, the ergo, walking in her stroller, when I vaccuum, her play mat, blowing bubbles, mommy and daddy’s bed, and going outside
Dislikes: Getting out of the bath, tummy time, being held cradled like a baby (she likes to be held up right so she can see everything)
Fun Things We Did:
  • We celebrated Blair’s first Easter! I know she wont remember it but it was so fun to play the Easter Bunny.
  • Took our first official Family Photos. I love having pictures of our little family of three hanging in my home.
  • We took Blair on a walk in her stroller for the first time. She loved it so much.
  • Blair had her first Chiropractor appointment last week. It went really well. She did cry a little near the end but I could tell it was mostly out of irritation and not because she was hurt or anything. I have noticed she has been turning her head to the right better.
  • More play dates with Kylee and Lucy. Love those little girls.

Mama: I am feeling pretty great, if not a little sleep deprived. I have been working really hard to eat healthy and lose weight. My favorite part of the day is going on a walk with Blair either in the Ergo or in her stroller. Basically any excuse I have to get out of the house is a good one. I have been nauseous since I started breastfeeding her and it’s getting worse. I get super nauseous while she is eating and then it slowly goes away just to come back again while I am feeding her. No one really knows why it’s happening. I am still dealing with a lot of back and hip pain but I just started seeing a chiropractor and I know that will really help.

Daddy: Garren is working really hard at school and is almost done with his third term of school! So crazy! he is such an amazing dad. he is more than willing to change diapers, or take her when she is fussing so I can get a moment to myself. To be honest he probably changes more diapers than me, but don’t tell him I said that! ;)

Things We Are Looking Forward too:

  • Garren will have memorial day off so he will have a three day weekend! We are going to go to the Joseph Smith Memorial
  • My first mother’s day!
  • Going to Utah next month to see our families and have Blair blessed!

Weight: 10 lbs 4.6 0z 32%

Dr. Appointment: I was seriously dreading this doctor appointment because baby girl was getting her first vaccinations. I grew up in a non vacc family so I did a LOT of research on vaccinations before going through with it. While vaccinations do have a lot crap in them, the benefits out weigh the risks for me. Hearing her get them was the single saddest thing I have ever heard. I made Garren hold her down and then I picked her up to comfort here right after. She was basically hyperventilating when I picked her up. She calmed down after about 4-5 minutes, nursed when we got home and then went to sleep. She is awake now and happy as can be so we survived shots! We are watching her temperature to make sure she doesn’t get a high fever. The doctor looked at her swollen lymphnodes that I thought were huge and laughed at me and said they were tiny and normal. I am not looking forward to the next shot visit.

Waiting to get shots :(

Nicknames: Bubbles, Honey Bunch, Baby Girl, B, Cuddles, Cuddle Bug, Princess, Little Turkey, Fuzzy Head, Munchkin, Pumpkin

Clothing: At six weeks old she grew completely out of newborn clothing and has been wearing 0-3 ever since. They are still pretty baggy on her but are starting to look better! One of my favorite parts of the day is getting her dressed. She is so precious. I definitely need to get some more hair bands/accessories. I really hope her hair never falls out, I love her little fuzzy head so much.
Diapers: We have officially been cloth diapering for a little over three weeks now! I love it! It’s so much easier than I thought it would be. Since we don’t have a dryer we do have to do wash every night and hang the diapers to dry. It’s really not that big of a deal. Since Blair is exclusively breast feed, poop diapers are a breeze. Breast milk poop dissolves completely in water so you don’t even need to rinse them. I am not looking forward to when she eats solids and poop diapers become a little more of a hassle. The only gripe I have with cloth diapers is they are a little thicker than disposable so she will grow out of her clothes a little faster than normal. However, cloth diapers are about 20 times cuter than their disposable counter parts so no harm no foul.

Eating: Blair eats every 1.5-3 hours during the day. She does this little lip smacking thing when she is hungry. It’s one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Breastfeeding no longer hurts and I love how easy and convenient it has become! I am so glad I don’t have to get up and make a bottle every time she is hungry. This month I left her for a few hours at home with daddy so I could carry out my calling at church. She took the bottle like a champ so I am glad we are pass that hurdle! I only pump if I know I am going out and she will need a bottle though. No reason to fill up our freezer. Blair is a very efficient eater. Most feeds are about 12 minutes long. She is also a very noisy eater which may get awkward if I ever get brave enough to attempt public breastfeeding.

Sleeping: I am definitely one spoiled mama! Blair has determined 11:00 pm to be bed time (I do wish she went to bed earlier but that’s fine) and will sleep til around 4:30 am to have a diaper change and eat. She then goes straight back to sleep. Lately she has even been waiting until 5:30 am for this feeding. I can’t tell you how amazing 6 hours of sleep feels! She then will wake up for the day between 7:30-8:30. Unfortunately Blair is still sleeping in our bed. She sleeps tightly swaddled and propped up in the boppy pillow. I have tried several times to get her to sleep in her bassinet but she will literally wake up ever ten minutes. One night I tried for 2.5 hours, rocking the bassinet and giving her the pacifier every time she spit it out. Finally exhaustion won and I put her in our bed. I really don’t know what to do about this. Advise will be well received at this point! During the day she usually takes two 1.5 hour naps and two-three 15-40 minute naps. She is still pretty all over the place with this. I have been trying to put her in her crib awake for naps and it works about 35% of the time. Blair is not a morning person. Until she has her breakfast she basically wants nothing to do with my silly faces.
The last week has been completely different than this usual routine. I downloaded the wonder weeks app and she is currently in her second leap and let me tell you I am a believer! She is like a newborn again at night. She wakes up every two hours to eat and has been very fussy during the day. Hopefully it doesn’t last much longer.

Social: Blair has been all smiles this month! I love seeing that cute smile and watching her interact with us. She is talking so much. She is very attentive and always makes eye contact. She loves being read to, and she will just stare at the pictures. Last week I put her on her play mat and turned on Baby Einstien, I could not believe how much she loved it. She sat and watched it while kicking her legs and talking to the television. I felt a little guilty putting my baby in front of the TV but I got to eat my breakfast and do the dishes! My favorite thing to do is to sit back with my legs up and let her sit on my stomach resting against my legs and just talk to her. She recently discovered her hands and has started sucking on them. It’s adorable. She is a very bubbly, happy girl as you can see in this video.

Likes: nursing, taking baths (she uses her tub now!), when we blow raspberries at her, being read to, Baby Einstein, her play mat, the ergo, sleeping in mommy and daddy’s bed, sitting up like a big girl, her changing table, the swing (finally!) play dates, and some times her pacifier

Dislikes: Tummy time, being taken out of her bath, mornings before breakfast, and being overly tired.

Fun things we did:
  • We have had a couple play dates with my friend Kylee and her baby girl Lucy. They are a month apart and so cute. These play dates are obviously more for Kylee and Me but I am sure Blair will like them one day.
  • We also went to the Polls for some Cafe Rio and so Blair, Malan, and Lucy could have their picture taken together. So cute!
  • We took Blair to church for the first time. She is so good during Sacrament meeting. We haven’s stayed for the entire service yet. We are working our way up.
  • We did take Blair to the park for the first time but it was covered in ice and she slept the whole time any way.
Mama: I just wrote about this here.

Daddy: Garren is doing really well in school. He is currently doing a clinical on Monday’s and is loving getting to put his new knowledge to practice. Since Blair is more attentive and starting to play he is enjoying his time with her more. She no longer just eats, sleeps and poops so daddy time has become more fun. Garren was recently called to be the Ward Clerk at church so his life has become even more hectic. He is wonderful though and makes sure to dedicate most of Saturday to us.
Random: Recently Blair developed cradle cap. It’s seriously gross. My sister dealt with this with Lucas so she told me to cover her head in mayonnaise. So we did! Gross I know, but it really does help a ton!

What we’re looking forward to: I know she is still really young, but I am so excited for her first Easter! We are having family pictures taken the day before and already have most of her Easter basket things ready to go. Obviously this is more for us than for her, but I bet she will like to look at the pictures one day!

The Difference a Month Makes

I have a monthly update written for Blair but I am waiting until after her doctor’s appointment next week to post it so I can add her weight and height to it. I was looking through all of her pictures and I can’t believe how much she has changed already! My baby is no longer a tiny newborn but a baby who is developing her own little personality. I love watching her grow so much. Even if it makes me a little weepy ;) vs3

Her hair has grown so much! Please don’t fall out!

I some how forgot to take a picture of Blair with her Giraffe at the 1 month mark. Sad!

Having a child has definitely made time fly by. 2 months of pregnancy seemed to drag on vs 2 months of her life. Part of me loves seeing her grow and learn new things, the other part wants to keep my baby small and cuddly.
